What is a fanless computer? A fanless computer does not use a fan to maintain cooling, but instead uses heat sinks to transfer the heat from internal heating components such as the CPU and silicon wafers to the aluminum body of fanless pc. The aluminum body acts as a huge heat sink, transferring heat from the PC to the air. Because it ultimately needs to dissipate heat into the air through an aluminum alloy body, a characteristic of a fanless computer body is the large surface area and special shape of the chassis.

The advantage of both fanless pc and fanless panel PCs is that they do not have any moving parts that may malfunction. They can be dust-proof, silent, and even completely sealed to prevent liquid from entering, achieving a fully waterproof state.

When choosing a fanless box PC or fanless touch panel PC, the most important consideration is the usage environment.

 

Each computer has a working temperature rating, and when the temperature around the computer case is within the working temperature range, the computer will operate normally. The working temperature range of many fan less computers and touch panel PCs is -10~60 ℃. Most indoor applications have ambient temperatures within this range.

If fanless industrial computers are used outdoors or in areas not controlled by temperature, such as agricultural equipment, it is necessary to measure the heat generated by the computer itself, especially in enclosed spaces. Generally, we recommend customers to use it in a ventilated environment to ensure that the flowing air can take away the heat generated by the computer. If a fanless computer operates in an environment outside its limited operating range, the Intel CPU feels that the temperature is too high, and it will slow down the processor's clock speed to reduce heat generation. The decrease in clock speed will lead to a decrease in CPU performance, thereby affecting application performance. If a fanless industrial computer runs continuously in this environment, it may lead to a shortened lifespan of internal components in the computer.

Compared to ordinary computers, fanless pcs have the characteristics of stable performance, dustproof, waterproof, silent, and sturdy. They are widely used in harsh environments, especially in dusty manufacturing workshops and machinery with obvious vibrations.
